10 Most Powerful Pokémon You Should Know

Written by Syuri K.N.

If you're not a big Pokémon fan, you might think all Pokémon are the same. But did you know there are actually 18 different types of Pokémon, each with dozens or even hundreds of unique species?

In the Pokémon universe, not all creatures are equally strong. Some have strengths and weaknesses. However, there are a few that stand out as exceptionally powerful. Today, we're excited to share the top 10 strongest Pokémon based on their stats. Our list includes Pokémon from various types. Let's see who they are!

1. Arceus

Arceus is extraordinary, both in power and in looks. Statistically, Arceus is the most powerful Pokémon ever created. It can change into any Pokémon type, earning it the nickname 'master of type'.

Arceus is also special in Pokémon lore. According to Sinnoh legends, Arceus came from an egg and created the Pokémon universe. This Pokémon falls under the Alpha category, meaning its abilities are vast and impressive. Arceus is considered an 'old' Pokémon because it first appeared in the game "Pokémon Diamond and Pearl" released in 2006.

2. Mega Mewtwo X

Ranking the strongest Pokémon isn't easy since everyone has different opinions. However, many agree that Arceus tops the list. Following Arceus, it's tricky to pick the next strongest, but Mega Mewtwo X is a strong contender for the second spot.

You might remember the original Mewtwo as the 'troublemaker' created by Team Rocket. This Mewtwo, appearing in the "First Movie & Mewtwo Returns," was male. A second, female Mewtwo appeared in "Genesect and the Legend Awakened." Mewtwo can transform into two mega forms: Mega Mewtwo X and Y, with X being the more powerful type.

Mega Mewtwo X is known for its incredible strength and muscular build. It can grip with the force of a ton and sprint 100 meters in just 2 seconds! This Pokémon is not only fast but also has some of the most powerful special attacks.

3. Greninja

Greninja, or ゲッコウガ (Gekkouga) in Japanese, is a Water/Dark type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. If you're familiar with Froakie and Frogadier, then you know Greninja is their final evolved form.

Greninja gained popularity because it belongs to Ash, the main character in the Pokémon series. Thanks to its Battle Bond Ability, Greninja can transform into a special form called Ash-Greninja.

With ninja-like speed and agility, Greninja confuses its enemies with swift movements. It also uses compressed water to form weapons, often resembling ninja throwing stars, to attack its opponents.

4. Zekrom

Zekrom is a legendary Pokémon that can unleash powerful lightning, making it a Dragon/Electric type. It first appeared in Generation V.

It's not clear if Zekrom evolved from another Pokémon or if it can evolve further. Zekrom is unique because it can combine with Kyurem using DNA Splicers to become Black Kyurem.

5. Mega Diancie

Mega Diancie is known for its stunning beauty. It evolves from Carbink and then transforms into the eye-catching Mega Diancie. In this form, its purple-grey body and blue eyes change to a striking pink.

Covered in jewels, it's also known as the Jewel Pokémon. While impressive, this isn't Mega Diancie's final form, as it can evolve in games like Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

6. Lucario

The adorable Riolu evolves into the mighty Lucario, a Fighting/Steel type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. Lucario is special because it can control a force called 'aura' to break rocks and hunt. This ability is impressive, but Lucario gets even stronger when it evolves into Mega Lucario using a Lucarionite.

7. Rayquaza

Rayquaza might not be the most common Pokémon, but it's incredibly powerful. Believed to have lived for hundreds of millions of years, this legendary Dragon/Flying-type Pokémon was introduced in Generation III.

While Rayquaza doesn't evolve from or into other Pokémon, it can 'Mega Evolve' into Mega Rayquaza using the move Dragon Ascent, provided it's not holding a Z-Crystal.

8. Umbreon

Umbreon, known for its sleek, elegant look and quick movements, evolves from Eevee. However, this isn't Eevee's only evolution - it can also turn into Dark Leafeon, Grass Glaceon, and Ice Sylveon. Umbreon has a slim black body, four legs, red eyes, long pointed ears, and a bushy tail with yellow bands.

Its yellow markings glow in the dark or when excited, which can be quite intimidating. Umbreon waits in the shadows and attacks with a glowing yellow ring. While rare in the wild, they are more commonly found in urban areas under human care.

9. Charizard

Known as リザードン (Lizardon) in Japan, Charizard is a Pokémon many are familiar with. It first appeared in the original "Pokémon Red and Blue" games from 1996.

As the final evolution of Charmander -> Charmeleon, Charizard is known for breathing fire hot enough to melt boulders and even start forest fires.

Though Charizard is the last form in its evolution chain, it can Mega Evolve into two forms: Mega Charizard X using Charizardite X, and Mega Charizard Y using Charizardite Y.

10. Mimikyu

Mimikyu might remind you of Pikachu, everyone's favorite Pokémon, but it's quite different. It looks like a child's drawing of Pikachu or a homemade version. Don't worry, Mimikyu is a real Pokémon, not something made by fans.

This Ghost-type Pokémon wears a costume that resembles Pikachu. Mimikyu chooses this look so it doesn't seem too spooky, since it is a ghost. But, ironically, this costume makes it appear even more mysterious.

Mimikyu wears its Pikachu costume to befriend people and other Pokémon because it feels lonely. It's quite sad – Mimikyu just wants to be loved and make friends. The costume choice makes sense because Pikachu is so popular, right?

But be careful, getting too close or trying to see what's under the costume can bring bad luck. Mimikyu is strong in its own way, especially facing its loneliness. Let's be friends with Mimikyu!

The world of Pokémon is always changing. Every day might bring a new, stronger Pokémon, or an existing Pokémon might get more powerful. Who do you think is the most powerful Pokémon?
